Li Quan, Director and Secretary

Li is an internationally renowned tiger and big cat conservationist.  

 

She founded and ran Save China's Tigers from 2000 until 2013, founding China Tiger Revival on 25 April 2013. 

 

She received a BA from Beijing University and a dual MBA/MA from the Wharton School of Business and the Lauder Institute of University of Pennsylvania. 

 

Prior to becoming involved full time with animal conservation, Li pursued a career in the fashion business and was head of worldwide licensing with Gucci before establishing several Save China’s Tigers charities in the UK, US, Hong Kong, Australian and China, to raise awareness and provide funds and expertise to help China’s effort to save flagship species.

 

She founded the world’s pioneering South China Tiger Rewilding and Reintroduction project with the Chinese State Forestry Administration.

 

Besides being a Founding Director of China Tiger Revival, Li is a committee member of Save China’s Tigers (Special Fund of the China Green Carbon Foundation) in the P.R.C.

Vance Martin, Director

Vance is president of the WILD foundation since in 1984 after 15 years in international business and non-profit management. An innovative leader known for bridging the interests of people and nature, he has lived extensively overseas, worked in over 45 countries, and helped to establish many non-profits. An acknowledged expert in international nature conservation and wilderness protection, he serves on the boards of numerous organizations such as the Cheetah Conservation Fund, Friends of Peace Parks, Fulcrum Publishing, Wilderness Foundation (South Africa), Wilderness Foundation (UK), International Conservation Caucus Foundation, and others.

 

He is also the founder and current co-chairman of the IUCN Wilderness Specialist Group, and has edited and authored many publications. A native of the U.S. Piedmont region, he graduated magna cum laude from West Virginia University. Ian Penman, Chairman

Ian is a solicitor and one of the founding partners of West End law practice New Media Law LLP which specialises in Media & Entertainment. Ian works with a wide range of high profile clients within the film & television, music, gaming, software and publishing industries, as well as other commercial organisations in related sectors.  Prior to founding New Media Law, Ian was an Associate at DLA Piper from 1994 to 2002.

Ian loves animals and is dedicated to their conservation and is a Founding Director of CTR UK.  Ian is also the General Counsel to (and shareholder in) 1Gen Limited, which is developing a revolutionary new wind turbine technology.

 

Ian is also a co-founder director of and shareholder in Wild Immersion, which is a Paris based company creating and exhibiting Virtual Reality content featuring wild animals in their natural environment.  Wild Immersion is endorsed by Jane Goodall, of the internationally reknowned Jane Goodall Institute.

The Hon Robert Hanson

Robert joined N M Rothschild & Sons in 1983 where he worked initially in London and later at its subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Chile and Spain. In 1990, he joined Hanson PLC becoming a main board director in 1992 responsible for strategy, mergers, acquisitions and disposals.  Robert resigned from Hanson PLC at the end of 1997 after the demerger to chair Hanson Transport Group, now Hanson Family Holdings.  In 1998 he founded Hanson Capital Limited to capitalise on his worldwide network of close relationships with private venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, financiers and high net worth individuals. 

 

In 2006 Hanson Westhouse was formed by linking Hanson Capital Limited and Westhouse Securities with Robert becoming Chairman, a position he held until June 2009. In October 2009 Robert became chairman of Strand Hanson Ltd, an independent corporate advisory firm. Externally Robert became a director of Vancouver-based Ivanhoe Mines Ltd in 2001 and South Gobi Energy Resources in 2006.

Steve Smith

Steve has over 25 years of experience as a senior executive founding, operating, advising and investing in diverse businesses in technology, media, energy, life sciences and financial services. Steve is particularly interested in building private equity and venture capital vehicles appropriate for Responsible Investing mandates.

 

Steve also provides consulting and advisory services working closely with corporate venture/equity groups at GE, ABB, Siemens and Nike and with funds such as Missionpoint Capital, Lux Capital and Ritchie Capital, while helping early /growth stage companies develop strategies and raise capital. Steve is/has recently served as an advisor to many companies such as Tilting Point Media, GL Advisors, Mission Critical Services, Fieldview Solutions, Dragonfly/Le Chao, Nike, etc.  Prior to his current advisory focus, Steve was an Operating Advisor at Pegasus Capital, Senior Managing Director at Ritchie Capital Management and senior executive at GE Capital.

 

Steve is active in sustainable development through his roles with TERI-NA, the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit, The US/India Energy Summit, the Illinois Institute of Technology School of Design, the Rapid Results Institute, China Tiger Revival and Wild Tropical Fish of the World LLC.  Steve has a long background in global sustainable development and emerging technologies conferences and has been a frequent contributor to the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit, the IFC Cleantech Workshop, the ID Strategy Conference, the Tallberg Forum, the Bellagio Group, the Future in Review (FIRE) and LOH.
